Haiti Appeal

Haiti was hit by a major earthquake on January 12 measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale, leaving the country without water and electricity and claiming thousands of lives, with many of the victims still trapped under the ruins. The already burdened medical infrastructure in Haiti is now also threatened with contagious diseases spreading in the general population. And as if this were not enough, several, somewhat less severe aftershocks hit Haiti on January 20.

The Government of Slovenia has allocated funds amounting to $72,500 in humanitarian aid to mitigate the consequences of the disaster. Slovenia’s Administration for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief also sent 25 tents worth some $100,000 to Haiti to provide shelter for 300 people who were left homeless.

One way of helping Haitians is to make a donation through Charity and Humanitarian Organizations.
